IBM Frequently Asked Questions
Is my Maintenance Contract still valid if I modify my IBM hardware?
Yes, as long as you use genuine IBM parts and they’re installed by an IBM engineer.
If I sell my IBM hardware, can I also transfer my IBM Maintenance Contract?
No, IBM Maintenance Contract benefits are only available to the business they’re registered to – but the new owner can buy their own IBM Maintenance Contract for the hardware.
What does Committed Service mean?
Committed Service is an option that means your agreement will state that an approved engineer will arrive on-site within 4hrs to repair your equipment.
What service levels can I choose from?
You can tailor your cover to suit your needs and budget, with a choice of cover length (e.g. 1 and 2 year cover options), 9 to 5 or 24/7 response and next business day or same day service.
What makes you an approved IBM specialist?
We’ve been a trusted IBM partner for over 10 years, have over 40 dedicated account managers around the world and can deliver the vital IT business support you need, when you need it.
Can you manage my entire IT system?
Absolutely. Simply send us the serial numbers, models and types and we’ll contact you before your current warranty runs out to discuss your renewal options.
Can I extend IBM warranties for different hardware in different countries?
Yes. We can put you in touch with dedicated account managers around the world who can help you buy Service Packs in over 130 countries.
My business is based in the UK, so why do I have to buy ServicePacs for my foreign offices in each individual country?
This is for tax legislation reasons, but you can buy through our global account managers, so the process is simple and straightforward. Please note that if you buy a ServicePac in the UK for a machine and then ship that machine to another country, it cannot be supported and the ServicePac will be invalid.
How do I pay for ServicePacs, Software Services and Maintenance Contracts?
To keep things nice and simple, you can pay in advance by bank transfer or cheque.
What currencies do you accept?
We welcome a wide range of currencies; sterling, euros, US dollars, Swiss francs and Danish krone.
Can I keep things simple with one invoice in one currency?
Yes. Just tell us whether you’d like to deal in sterling, euros, US dollars, Swiss francs and Danish krome and we’ll take care of the rest.

Multi country support
My hardware is in separate countries, do I have to buy support in those countries?
So that you can fully redeem all the services available in your agreement, your agreement has to be bought in each relevant country. However, with Europlus Direct, our dedicated account managers can help you with an easy registration process, so contact us today.
What kind of support is available, worldwide?
IBM Multi-manufacturer support
What is IBM Multi-Manufacturer Support?
If you have an IT system that includes machines from other manufacturers, such as Dell, Cisco or HP, then you may need to cover them with our IBM Multi-Manufacturer Support – one simple service that will protect your whole IT system.
How do I know what you will cover?
As with all our services, we need to know the serial numbers or ID of each machine so we can provide the right protection. The same applies to machines of manufacturers other than IBM or Lenovo but if you’re unsure, please contact us.
